Liberation (Theatre)
In theatre, we need not be over theatrical but rather perform and be. Liberation a piece based in the contemporary Zimbabwe…left me wondering if acting should be this obvious. The characters were unusually over exaggerated as one would be in old theatre not at its best. It tried to blend dance and theatre when enacting sexual acts, but honestly it seemed like a new drawing board is needed. There are characters that didn’t fit the plot, the plot itself was like a broken compass that took a full swing, rested and swung again in reverse.
If you have time to spare, want to pass some small time, you can find enjoyment and a few laughs but if you’re looking for a real deep meaningful show…look again at your programme.
